Yunlin County Rural Regeneration Showcase Fair kicks off, advancing toward agricultural regeneration 3.0 and net-zero sustainability
(中央社訊息服務20251105 14:59:13)The Yunlin County Government held the "2025 Yunlin County Rural Regeneration Showcase Fair" on Feb. 15 at the Linnei Butterfly Ecological Landscape Park, highlighting the achievements of the county’s rural regeneration projects. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) presented awards to 26 outstanding communities, encouraging continued efforts to advance Rural Regeneration 3.0 and move towards net-zero sustainability, revitalizing Yunlin's rural areas.
Magistrate Chang highlighted Yunlin County’s leadership in rural regeneration, noting that the county has successfully guided 154 communities, each achieving full implementation. Through the initiative, communities have improved rural living, ecology, and production, accelerating rural industry development, and showcasing their vitality and creativity. The showcase fair presented the results of community efforts, allowing everyone to share their experiences, further driving growth and transformation across the county.
Magistrate Chang pointed out that Yunlin’s regeneration project adopts a bottom-up approach, led by local communities and supported through close collaboration among industry, government, academia and research institutions. The project addresses areas such as industrial revitalization, cultural preservation, and ecological conservation. The county government's Urban and Rural Development Department fully supports the implementation of these initiatives, aiming to enhance the value of rural industries, improve residents' quality of life, protect the ecological environment, drive community development, and create distinctive community highlights.
She added that the project has successfully helped communities evolve from primary sector into sixth-sector industries, significantly increasing agricultural value. The county government will continue advancing Rural Regeneration 3.0 by incorporating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and corporate ESG principles into the project's implementation. This includes promoting a circular economy for agricultural and fishery materials, energy conservation, and waste reduction, ultimately achieving net-zero sustainability.
Lin Chang-Tsao (林長造), Director of Yunlin County Government's Urban and Rural Development Department, stated that since 2010, the county government has collaborated with the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation to promote the regeneration project, successfully supporting 154 rural communities. Between 2011 and 2025, the project secured NT$1.845675 billion in funding support, achieving a 100% implementation rate and delivering tangible improvements in local development.
Director Lin stated that Yunlin County performed exceptionally well in the 2024 Golden Village Competition. Among 974 participating communities nationwide, Huanan Community in Gukeng Township and the Jinhu Leisure Agriculture Area in Kouhu Township won gold and bronze medals, respectively. These achievements demonstrate the efforts of the county government and local communities in promoting rural regeneration initiatives.
Lin further noted that in 2025, Yunlin County's Rural Revitalization Program approved 212 projects, covering areas such as public infrastructure, cultural preservation, ecological conservation, and marketing promotion. The total funding reached NT$120.81 million, ranking first nationwide in both the number of approved projects and total funding. This achievement reflects the central government’s recognition of Yunlin County’s continued efforts in promoting rural regeneration initiatives.
The Urban and Rural Development Department said that this year's Rural Regeneration Showcase Fair, themed "Net-Zero Sustainability & Resilient Homeland," highlights the community's remarkable achievements in promoting low-carbon living and developing local specialty industries. Through residents' dedication, creativity and collaboration, the event demonstrates how green sustainability and traditional culture can be harmoniously integrated to embody the spirit of community sustainability.
During the showcase, Magistrate Chang presented awards to outstanding communities for their achievements. Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya (謝淑亞), County Councillors Lai Shu-nei (賴淑娞), Lin Wen-bin (林文彬), and Chang Wei-cheng (張維崢), Linnei Township Mayor Liu Tzu-yen(劉姿言), Citong Township Mayor Liao Chiu-jung (廖秋蓉), Linnei Township Chairperson Hsu Lin Yu-chin (許林玉琴), along with various community leaders and representatives, attended the event to celebrate the achievements of Yunlin’s rural regeneration initiatives.
