23rd Taiwan Coffee Festival highlights Yunlin’s coffee pride
(中央社訊息服務20251103 18:10:32)The 2025 Taiwan Coffee Festival kicked off on Nov. 1 at the Gukeng Green Tunnel Park. This year’s event brought together over 141 coffee vendors from 13 counties and cities across Taiwan, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with the aroma of coffee and attracting large crowds. County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) and Lienchiang County Deputy Magistrate Chen Kuan-jen (陳冠人) unveiled the “Sunshine Tipsy” gift box, a fusion of Yunlin specialty coffee and Matsu specialty liquor, showcasing cross-county collaboration and an innovative vision for local industry development.
 
    
County Magistrate Chang Li-shan, Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya (謝淑亞), County Government Advisor Chang Ching-liang (張清良), Lienchiang County Deputy Magistrate Chen Kuan-jen, Nagano Prefectural Assembly Member Toshifumi Miyazawa (宮澤敏文), Manila Economic and Cultural Office Taichung Branch Director Chu Ching-ya (朱靖雅), Legislative Yuan Advisor Yeh Shou-shan (葉壽山), Legislator Chang Chia-chun (張嘉郡), Councilors Lai Ming-yuan (賴明源), Chien Tzu-fang (簡慈坊), Tsai Tung-fu (蔡東富), Chang Ting-chi (張庭綺), County Farmers’ Association General Manager Chen Chih-yang (陳志揚), Gukeng Township Mayor Lin Hui-ru (林慧如), Agriculture Department Director Wei Sheng-de (魏勝德), and other distinguished guests roasted beans together to kick off this year’s Taiwan Coffee Festival and showcase Taiwan’s coffee strength on the international stage.
In her address, County Magistrate Chang Li-shan thanked all the hardworking coffee farmers for enabling Yunlin coffee to successfully stand on the international stage and become a source of pride for Taiwan. The Taiwan Coffee Festival has been held for 23 years, with each edition featuring innovative themes and a rich program, showcasing the diverse charm and creativity of local agriculture.
 
County Magistrate Chang pointed out that this year’s event brought together 141 brands from 13 counties and cities across Taiwan. Notably, Lienchiang County Deputy Magistrate Chen Kuan-jen represented County Magistrate Wang Chung-ming (王忠銘), bringing a collaboration between Matsu Kaoliang Liquor and Yunlin Coffee. The collaboration, based on the creative concept of “fine liquor plus coffee,” was designed into a gift box, symbolizing cross-strait friendship and cultural exchange, and bringing new business opportunities to local industries.
 
Magistrate Chang further stated that the Taiwan Coffee Festival will last for five days, from Nov 1 to 2 and Nov 7 to 9. In conjunction with the event, five themed days will be launched: “Music Coffee,” “Leisure Coffee,” “Artsy Coffee,” “Family Coffee,” and “Pet Coffee.” Each day’s theme will be accompanied by special offers throughout the region. People from all over the country are welcome to come to Yunlin to enjoy aromatic coffee, watch performances, and savor the most wonderful coffee time together.
 
    
Deputy County Magistrate Hsieh Shu-ya stated that the Green Tunnel Park is the most beautiful and largest “open-air café” in Taiwan, filled with the aroma of coffee during the day and transforming into a romantic starlit café at night. She extended an invitation to people from all over the country to bring their families and friends to visit, enjoy coffee under the stars, and experience the warmth and charm of Yunlin.
Lienchiang County Deputy Magistrate Chen Kuan-jen pointed out that Matsu Kaoliang Liquor is strong and mellow, while Yunlin Coffee is pure and sweet. The combination of the two symbolizes “co-creation and integration.” He believes that “fine liquor plus coffee” will become a great story of cooperation between the two regions, showcasing the innovative spirit of Taiwan’s local industries and the deep friendship between Lienchiang and Yunlin counties.
 
    
Agriculture Director Wei Sheng-de stated that this year’s Taiwan Coffee Festival is themed “Coffee for Life,” symbolizing the integration of coffee into daily life, connecting people, nature, and the beauty of life, and showcasing that coffee is not just a beverage, but also a dialogue about attitudes towards life.
Director Wei Sheng-de pointed out that the coffee map stamp collection activity is specially launched during the coffee festival connects 42 local specialty coffee shops in Yunlin. As long as you purchase the Taiwan Coffee Festival exclusive package from one of the three participating stores before Nov. 9 and collect 3 points, you can scan the fourth QR code at the coffee festival site. Once you have collected 4 points, you can redeem a limited edition coffee tasting cup at the coffee festival store (limited quantity per day, while supplies last).
The Agriculture Department stated that in addition to various food and coffee exhibitions at the Taiwan Coffee Festival, there will be exciting programs such as the Dream Stage, special performances and brand shows on the main stage. In addition, the “228 Mini Stage” will feature clown shows, magic shows, balloon shows, bubble shows, and acrobatic performances, bringing joy to children and adults alike.
