Yunlin County partners with Singapore’s Sheng Siong Supermarket to boost agricultural exports
(中央社訊息服務20251029 17:33:27)Yunlin County’s fresh fruits and vegetables, food ingredients, and high-quality Yunlin products have reached a new milestone in their entry into the Singaporean market. A delegation from the Singapore Food & Beverage Exhibition (FHA) 2025, led by Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singaporean supermarket chain Sheng Siong on April 9. The delegation also announced that Sheng Siong will host a promotional event for the “Taiwan Food Fair” from April 11 to 17, jointly promoting Taiwan’s premium agricultural products to the Singaporean market.
County Magistrate Chang stated that Yunlin County is Taiwan’s granary, offering the highest-quality fresh fruits and vegetables, agricultural and livestock products, and ingredients, as well as carefully selected Yunlin good products. These are all top-tier Taiwanese products. Sheng Siong Supermarket is one of Singapore’s most competitive supermarket chains. The signing of this MOU represents a powerful partnership, allowing Singaporean consumers to experience the natural flavors of Taiwan, helping Taiwanese agricultural products expand into international markets, and promoting the prosperity of Taiwanese agriculture.
Magistrate Chang stated that the Yunlin County Government and Sheng Siong Supermarket will jointly host a promotional event for the “Taiwan Food Fair” from April 11 to 17. During the event, a Taiwanese agricultural product area will be set up in all major Sheng Siong Supermarket stores in Singapore to strongly promote specialty fruits and agricultural products from Taiwan, including mini bell peppers, colored radishes, and beefsteak tomatoes, allowing Singaporean consumers to experience the high-quality delicacies from Taiwan firsthand.
Representative Wu Wen-ling of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore expressed his honor to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Yunlin County and Sheng Siong Supermarket. He believes that this agreement will seamlessly integrate the high-quality ingredients of Yunlin, known as “Taiwan’s Kitchen,” with Singapore’s largest private supermarket group, creating mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties.
Sheng Siong Supermarket Managing Director Lin Youlong stated that Taiwanese agricultural products are of superior quality and highly sought after by Singaporean consumers. He expressed his hope that future collaborations could expand, bringing in more Taiwanese specialty produce to enrich the local market.
Wei Sheng-de, Director of the County Government’s Department of Agriculture, stated that the promotional event for the “Taiwan Food Fair” is expected to attract a large number of Singaporean consumers. The event will feature a variety of interactive activities, including tastings and sales promotions, allowing Singaporeans to deeply experience the unique charm of Taiwanese agricultural products. This grand promotional event will not only help enhance the international brand value of Taiwanese agricultural products but also represent a key step for Taiwanese agriculture to enter the global market.
On April 8, Magistrate Chang and a delegation visited Eastern Green Marketing Pte Ltd, a fresh fruit and vegetable importer in Singapore. She noted that Eastern Green Marketing Pte Ltd, with an annual turnover exceeding 100 million Singapore dollars, is one of Singapore’s largest fresh fruit and vegetable importers. By using Eastern Green Marketing Pte Ltd to distribute Yunlin fresh fruit and vegetables to NTUC Supermarket and Sheng Siong Supermarket, the two sides hope to continuously strengthen their partnership and establish marketing channels, so that Singaporean consumers will recognize Yunlin’s high-quality products and fresh fruits and vegetables from Taiwan as the best food and the finest ingredients.
Chang pointed out that the county government’s participation in the FHA-Food & Beverage 2025 not only symbolizes Taiwan’s agricultural sector’s official presence in Southeast Asia but also serves as international recognition of the quality of Taiwanese agricultural products. The signing of this MOU is a significant milestone in Taiwan’s agricultural products entering the international market. She looks forward to further collaboration opportunities in the future, ensuring that Taiwanese agricultural products become a top choice on tables around the world.
