Huwei Farmers’ Association launches new product to promote Yunlin’s peanuts
(中央社訊息服務20251028 16:58:48)On Oct. 3, County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) was invited to attend the Huwei Township Farmers’ Association’s launch event for new product “Energetic Nuts,” as well as the Farmers’ Day commendation ceremony. She stated that the Huwei Farmers’ Association, by combining smart agriculture, strict quality control, and innovative marketing, continuously develops safe and delicious new products, expanding into diverse consumer markets. This has made Tiger King Peanuts a household name, bolstering the reputation of “Yunlin's premium products are top-notch.”
The Huwei Township Farmers’ Association today launched a new product, “Energetic Nuts,” which combines peanuts with a variety of nuts. This product not only meets the modern trend of pursuing a healthy diet, but also provides farmers with a stable and professional sales channel for their hard-earned peanuts.
County Magistrate Chang stated that the Huwei Farmers’ Association, under the leadership of Chairman Lin Kun-chuan (林坤泉), Executive Supervisor Chen Yan-rong (陳炎榮), and Secretary-General Tsai Wu-ji (蔡武吉), has promoted contract farming of peanuts, strengthened the production and marketing record system, and obtained dual ISO22000 and HACCP certification, becoming the first farmers’ association in the country to have peanut production, marketing, and processing certification. With an integrated approach from planting to processing to packaging, the association has successfully made “Tiger King Peanuts” a household name and a high-quality brand.
County Magistrate Chang noted that the Huwei Farmers’ Association continues to develop new products, such as its “Energetic Nuts” mixed nut series, and has partnered with various organizations to develop innovative processed products, such as peanut candy and popcorn. Peanut ice cream is not only a local hit but is now available in 7-Eleven stores nationwide, opening up new marketing channels for Yunlin agricultural products along with products like the “Five-Star Fruit Plate.”
Magistrate Chang further stated that Yunlin’s agricultural innovation and marketing have expanded into international and cultural arenas. This year, the county government collaborated with five counties and cities to include Yunlin’s premium “Free Range Chicken Porridge” and “Good Field Rice” as souvenirs for VIPs at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards (GHA) ceremony. Last year, local peanuts were selected for the GHA, which demonstrated the recognition of the high quality of Yunlin’s agricultural products.
County Magistrate Chang called on everyone to support domestic products, eat local food, and choose safe, high-quality Yunlin agricultural products to create more value and hope for Taiwan’s agriculture.
Tsai Wu-ji, Secretary General of the Huwei Farmers’ Association, stated that farmers often face tremendous pressure from climate change, labor shortages, and market competition. As a supporter of farmers, the association is committed to product development and brand promotion. By continuously launching a diverse range of processed peanut products, they have successfully increased peanut usage and market exposure, driving the overall peanut industry’s growth.
Tsai pointed out that “Energetic Nuts” combines locally produced peanuts with a variety of high-quality nuts such as walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, almonds, wolfberries, etc., making the taste richer and both nutritious and delicious. It also adds flavor and high-quality plant protein, making the overall product more distinctive. It is a rare nut-combined peanut product on the market.
The Huwei Township Farmers’ Association, through an industry strategic alliance, has partnered with the Yuanchang Township Farmers’ Association, the Beigang Township Farmers’ Association, the Dongshi Grain Production Cooperative, the Cihtong Cooperative Farm, the Hakka Grain Production Cooperative, and other partners to promote the development of peanut processing products. From traditional peanut candy and cakes to innovative popcorn and puffed rice candy, these products are gradually showcasing local characteristics and enhancing the competitiveness of the industry. This ensures that farmers receive reasonable profits while consumers enjoy safe, high-quality, and healthy products, creating a win-win situation for both farmers and the farmers’ association.
