(中央社訊息服務20240722 17:36:31)Organized by National Taiwan University, the GIS Taiwan Forum (GIS Taiwan) was Taiwan's largest international student academic forum. The 15th GIS Taiwan had its theme set as "Rebuild and Revive," encouraging participants to break frameworks and reorganize their perceptions of the world. The five-day forum concluded on July 5, 2024, bringing together domestic and international experts, scholars, and student representatives worldwide to discuss current global issues in English and engage in intellectual exchange. This edition had invited Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan as a co-organizer, aiming to promote social businesses to achieve the "3ZERO" vision advocated by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Yunus; zero net carbon emissions, zero poverty, and zero unemployment, and cultivate more young talents with global perspectives and leadership.

The forum featured speakers from various fields, including Philippa Tsai, President, and Juno Wang, CEO of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan; Chia-Yuan Wu, Supervisor of the Foundation; Mei Mei Ng, General Manager of LinkedIn Hong Kong and Taiwan; Giuseppe Izzo, Regional Vice President and Taiwan Managing Director at STMicroelectronics ‘ Asia Pacific Region and Managing Director of ST Microelectronics in Taiwan. Additionally, NTU President Chen Wen-Zhang, Vice President Shi-Tong Ding, Dean of Student Affairs Shu-Wei Chu, Dean of International Affairs Hsiao-Wei Yuan, and Dean of Academic Affairs Hong-Jen Wang expressed their support, attracting over a hundred global students and dozens of distinguished speakers for profound academic and cultural exchanges.

Following NTU President Chen Wen-Zhang's opening remarks motivating students, Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan President Philippa Tsai was invited as a guest speaker, mentioning that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus founded Grameen Bank in 2006, changing the destinies of many impoverished individuals. The Foundation actively invited youth to unleash their innovative spirit through participation in the Taiwan Yunus Social Business Innovation Award to establish social businesses and collaborate in building a 3ZERO world. Chia-Yuan Wu, Supervisor of Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, served as a keynote speaker, emphasizing the Foundation's recent efforts in promoting the 3ZERO mission and establishing Yunus Social Business Centres at 14 universities in Taiwan to enhance social impact and stress sustainability in this century. Mei Mei Ng, LinkedIn's General Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, shared with students the platform's utility for following industry leaders and experts, staying informed about current issues and future trends. During the closing remarks, Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan CEO Juno Wang highlighted the pivotal role of youth in transforming the world, inviting groups of five students to form 3ZERO Clubs to discuss environmental solutions. Currently, the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan is organizing the "3Zero Doer" competition, encouraging student engagement in 3ZERO initiatives, with prizes totaling nearly NT$230,000, including a cash prize of approximately NT$70,000 and full subsidies for the champion team's members to attend classes at Dale Carnegie Training.

In addition to academic exchanges, this year's session combined a cultural festival featuring cultural exchange booths and performances from various countries. Special lectures were held by the American Institute in Taiwan, the Embassy of Saint Christopher and Nevis, and the Czech Economic and Cultural Office, sharing valuable cultural exchange experiences and professional information on studying abroad.

Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan's role as a co-organizer of the GIS Taiwan aimed to expand its social impact, promote the spirit of social business and the 3ZERO vision, and continue collaborating with more young students to create a sustainable future with 3ZERO values.
