Yunus Social Business Salon in Kaohsiung Discusses Fundraising and Startup Laws
(中央社訊息服務20240619 14:28:19)Kaohsiung, June 12, 2024 – Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan has long been dedicated to promoting the common good model of social businesses. Every month, they host the Yunus Social Business Salon in Taipei and Kaohsiung, inviting experts from academia and industry to share valuable insights on managing and starting social businesses. The May salon in Kaohsiung was held at Le Phare Co-working Space - Xinzuoying branch, co-sponsored by the Carbon Inventory Industry Union of the Republic of China, Taiwan. The event featured a keynote speech by Philippa Tsai, who is the President of Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan and also the Chairman of Transnational Vision, Attorneys-at-law on "Fundraising and Startup Laws: Developing Professionalism and Negotiation Skills," highlighting crucial legal and negotiation strategies for entrepreneurship and fundraising.
The salon attracted numerous distinguished guests, including Le Phare Co-working Space General Manager Li-Chung Cheng, Taiwan Carbon Inventory Industry Union Chairman Ming-Chih Hung, Secretary-General Chun-Mei Chou, Taipei Co-Space CEO Chen-Chun Huang, Sun World Coffee Chairman Hong-Sen Shih, Fan Yi-Teng, Ph.D., Head of Han Jiang Education and Technology Co. Ltd. Base, and Marx Hsiang-Yu Sung, Managing Director and Taiwan Representative for Wall Street Nasdaq Listing Inc., who will be the keynote speaker at the June salon in Taipei.
In Philippa’s speech, she shared real case examples from her practice, engaging participants in group discussions using a private board model and having them resolve issues as if in a board meeting, simulating the challenges faced in entrepreneurship. She emphasized that adjusting business operations, debt negotiations, and financial planning can help rebuild businesses, and shared three key points for networking: "Experts and mentors in specific fields, mutually beneficial allies and classmates, and straightforward, honest friends." These connections are vital for business success and personal growth. Philippa Tsai also reminded attendees of the importance of integrating public welfare and kindness into their lives, accumulating "kindness and blessed rewards capitals."
Ms. Juno Wang, CEO of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, highlighted the foundation's joint launch with Philippa Tsai of the 108 Pioneering Angel Public Welfare Project, inspired by 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus' spirit of poverty alleviation. Recently, the foundation also launched the "Ten Thousand Stars" project, encouraging small, regular donations to support social businesses and achieve the 3Zero Vision -"Zero Net Carbon Emissions, Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment". Juno Wang expressed special thanks to the Carbon Inventory Industry Union of the Republic of China, Taiwan for sponsoring the Kaohsiung Yunus Social Business Salon.
The Foundation will continue promoting sustainable knowledge lectures and workshops in the southern region, helping businesses navigate the unprecedented challenges of the global net-zero carbon wave. On July 22, the Foundation will invite experienced instructors from the EnvEd Centre for Innovative Learning to share knowledge on mountain and forest environments at the Kaohsiung salon, guiding participants in thinking about sustainable development and how to implement the three-zero goals in their lives.
