(中央社訊息服務20240710 14:51:24)Professor Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, introduced the "3ZERO" vision: zero net carbon emissions, zero poverty, and zero unemployment. In recent years, he has promoted the 3ZERO Club concept, inviting youth aged 12-35 to form 3ZERO Clubs with five members whose ages differ by no more than seven years. These clubs discuss and focus on key issues, aiming to collaborate with more people to create a world of "three zeroes." The 14th Yunus Social Business Academic Dialogue and the 3ZERO Club Convention were recently held at Asia Pacific College in the Philippines. This event aimed to address environmental and social issues through academic exchange and to gather representatives from 3ZERO Clubs worldwide to share their achievements and inspire more people to act for change.

In the opening remarks, Professor Yunus emphasized that young people are seen as key to changing the world because they could rethink and reshape the frameworks established by previous generations. He urged young people to take charge of the world, create a new civilization, save the current self-destructive modern civilization, and pave the way for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

Representing Taiwan's 3ZERO Club, Richard Tsai from Chihlee University of Technology shared his experience of discovering serious environmental problems through beach cleanups in junior high school, which motivated him to promote the use of reusable bags in schools to drive greater change. Julie Jen, a planning specialist from the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, the supporting organization for the 3ZERO Club, shared various actions taken to support the 3ZERO Club in Taiwan, promoting the discussion and development of social issues.

At this 3ZERO Club Convention, the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan showcased the achievements of Taiwan's 3ZERO Club at a booth beside the forum, attracting visits from representatives worldwide. Taiwan was frequently mentioned during the convention, effectively achieving international exchange and highlighting Taiwan on the global stage.

President of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, Philippa Tsai, mentioned that the foundation has long encouraged youth to establish 3ZERO Clubs to solve social problems and take real action for change. Juno Wang, CEO of the Foundation, highlighted that Taiwan had numerous opportunities to present at the convention, with the foundation being shortlisted for the Best 3ZERO Club Supporting Organization and one of its 3ZERO Clubs being shortlisted for the Best 3ZERO Club Award, marking a significant honor for Taiwan.

The Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan will continue to support various 3ZERO Club activities in Taiwan through training and workshops, equipping Taiwanese youth with sustainability and international awareness. By deeply rooting in Taiwan and looking globally, the foundation aims to drive future change.
