Kehl University Delegation Explores Hualien’s Rich History and Cultural Heritage at Jiang Jun Fu (General’s House) and Chinghsiu Temple
(中央社訊息服務20250328 10:06:03)A 17-member delegation from Kehl University (Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Kehl) visited Hualien from February 18 to 20 as part of a cultural exchange tour organized by the Hualien County Government. The itinerary included visits to key historical and cultural sites, such as Jiang Jun Fu (General’s House) and Chinghsiu Temple in Ji’an, offering the delegation a deeper understanding of Hualien’s history, cultural heritage, and regional development.
The delegation was highly impressed by Hualien’s efforts in cultural preservation. As one of the city’s oldest buildings, the Jiang Jun Fu stands as a testament to Hualien’s military and political history. The group was particularly surprised by how well the structure has been restored, allowing visitors to experience its original historical ambiance. Meanwhile, Chinghsiu Temple provided insight into the religious and cultural traditions of Japanese-era immigrant villages. Stepping into this century-old Buddhist temple, the delegation admired the elegant Japanese-style wooden architecture, intricate carvings, and historical artifacts. They were deeply moved by the coexistence of different cultural influences, reflected in both the temple’s design and the religious ceremonies that have been preserved through generations. The visit left a lasting impression, and the delegation commended Hualien’s successful balance between modern development and the protection and revitalization of its cultural heritage.
The Hualien County Government reaffirmed its commitment to cultural preservation and international exchange, hoping to welcome more visitors from around the world to experience the city’s historical charm firsthand. Through active participation, such exchanges foster greater understanding and dialogue between cultures.
