(中央社訊息服務20241105 10:00:00)Zixuan Xu, who lives in Kaohsiung, strives to excel at everything, constantly pursuing perfection, which often leaves her feeling suffocated and disappointed in herself. She says, “I often compare myself with others, and care a lot about what others think of me. These frequent thoughts cause me to end up in tears and sometimes I lose my appetite and experience insomnia.”

According to a global study by the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN), a leading association of research and polling, 79% of individuals reported experiencing stress to varying degrees and severity. According to the Ministry of the Interior’s 2023 “Survey of Citizens’ Life Status in Taiwan Area”, physical health, caring for parents, rising costs, cross-strait relations and child-rearing are problems that cause concern for many. These concerns are often the leading culprits of stress.

The “stress pandemic” is so significant that a yearly International Stress Awareness Week has been established. It occurs in the first week of November to raise awareness about stress, how it impacts mental and physical health and how to manage it.

Realizing the need to cope with the body’s response to demanding situations, more and more people around the world are turning to a free Bible-based resource for help. JW.ORG addresses timely topics and offers practical advice for daily living including stress management.

To find relief from stress, Zixuan typed “stress” in the search box on jw.org. She says, “Upon reading the principles and practical advice contained in these articles, I realized there were many things I could be happy about and learned not to sweat the small stuff.” She noted a particularly useful article on jw.org, titled “Am I a Perfectionist?” This article contains advice from the Bible, which states: “Let your reasonableness become known.” Zixuan agrees that reasonable people are balanced in what they expect of themselves and what they expect of others. She still refers to the site frequently when she feels the pangs of stress overtake her.

The content on jw.org is easily accessible, downloadable and shareable. Visitors can view the website in more than 1,000 languages and read articles such as:

• What Causes Stress.

• A Stress-Free Life is Possible.

“Everyone suffers from stress at some point. We want people to know that they don’t have to suffer alone and without help,” said Yifan Wang, local spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “Our official website offers information based on the Scriptures and provides real solutions.”
