Yunlin County Government advances international agricultural expansion through strategic engagement in the Middle East
(中央社訊息服務20260513 17:45:15)A delegation led by the Yunlin County Government departed in the early hours of Jan. 25 for a seven-day agricultural and food industry exchange mission in the Gulf region of the Middle East. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan (張麗善) stated that the Middle East has emerged as a key hub for global food trade and premium consumer markets in recent years, supported by strong purchasing power and stable import demand, emphasizing that the visit not only serves to expand international market opportunities for Yunlin agricultural products but also marks an important milestone in advancing the global outreach, international competitiveness, and brand development of Yunlin agriculture.
County Magistrate Chang pointed out that, amid the growing impacts of climate change and the ongoing restructuring of global food supply chains, international markets are placing increasing emphasis on food safety, product traceability and stability. As one of Taiwan’s leading agricultural hubs, Yunlin has a well-developed agricultural supply chain and a wide range of premium-quality agricultural products. She emphasized that engaging proactively with international markets is vital to ensuring the steady development and long-term sustainability of the agricultural sector.
County Magistrate Chang stated that the delegation will participate in the Gulfood 2026 under the "Yunlin Goods" brand, presenting a diverse selection of fresh fruits and vegetables with strong international market potential, including processed chicken products, as well as shelf-stable and frozen food products. As Middle Eastern markets place significant importance on cultural respect and religious practices, developing a thorough understanding of local market characteristics and gaining practical experiences through international exhibitions are essential to supporting Yunlin enterprises in expanding into Middle East markets. In addition to participating in Gulfood 2026, Yunlin's premium agricultural products will also be introduced at AL JAZIRA Supermarket in Bahrain. This initiative represents Taiwan’s first overseas agricultural marketing campaign in Bahrain since the COVID-19 pandemic and marks a significant step in strengthening Taiwan's agriculture presence in Middle Eastern markets and expanding its international market channels.
The Agriculture Department stated that Yunlin’s favorable natural environment, professional agricultural expertise, and the dedication of local farmers have enabled the county to develop a strong foundation in producing diverse, high-quality agricultural products. In addition to actively expanding domestic marketing efforts, the county government will continue to promote agricultural development with an international perspective. Through participation in international food exhibitions and systematic marketing initiatives, it aims to further elevate the global visibility of Yunlin agricultural products and strengthen the international recognition of the "Yunlin Goods" brand.
