"2025 Hualien FUN Summer Vacation" kicks off July 12–Aug 10 @ Liyu Lake

Hosted by the Hualien County Government, the “2025 Hualien FUN Summer Vacation” will run from July 12 to August 10, transforming the Shoufeng Liyu Lake Scenic Area into Taiwan’s trendiest water park! Five major water attractions—stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), canoeing, water bikes, bumper boats, and motorized paddleboats—will cool things down in style. With creative performances and a vibrant local market, the event promises excitement both day and night. Everyone is invited to visit Hualien and enjoy a summer travel experience that blends aquatic fun with natural beauty.

According to the Hualien County Government Tourism Department, this year’s event at Liyu Lake highlights five major water activities. Visitors can enjoy free sessions of SUP, canoeing, water bikes, bumper boats, and motorized paddleboats. Daily participation is limited, and on-site registration is available—perfect for families looking to make the most of the cool lake waters. Every Saturday and Sunday, special programs add to the excitement, including the lively “Water Fun Challenge” where the top three teams win surprise prizes, and the “Creative Performance Showcase” featuring a rotating lineup of street dance, circus acts, magic shows, and children’s theater. Along the lakeshore, a “Food Truck Weekend Market” will serve up delicious food and refreshing drinks, making it a one-stop summer travel hotspot.

Hualien County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei highlighted Hualien’s unique combination of mountains, ocean, and rich cultural offerings. This event blends water activities with creative performances, showcasing Hualien’s natural charm and vibrant local energy. The aim is to attract summer tourists and boost the local economy. Tourism Director Joshua Yu added that this year’s event features expanded water activities and collaboration with local businesses to create new tourism highlights. Spectacular fireworks will light up both the opening and closing nights, with the opening ceremony on July 12 featuring performances by the Diabolo Dance Theatre and Coming True Fire Group. Together with a starlit fireworks display, the night sky over Liyu Lake will dazzle. Everyone is warmly invited to gather at Liyu Lake and enjoy an unforgettable summer night.

In addition to the festivities at Liyu Lake, the 2025 Mambo Sincheng Pacific Ocean International Rock Balancing Festival is also underway with its own weekend market. Two “Starlight Concerts” will be held on August 2 (on the large lawn behind the Fuli Farmers’ Association Straw Art Festival) and August 23 (on the beach beside the Qixingtan Stargazing Plaza). With daily direct flights to Taipei and four weekly direct flights from Hong Kong to Hualien, getting here is easier than ever.
