TAIPEI, TAIWAN - In an effort to address the imbalance of urban and rural development in Taiwan, KGI Life Insurance (formerly known as China Life Insurance) is committed to exerting its sustainable influence by launching the "Local Revitalization - New Leaf Academy". This initiative aims to inject resources into local colleges and universities in priority areas of local revitalization, using innovative thinking and professional human capital.
The academy, in collaboration with Tungnan University, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Da-Yeh University, and Tajen University, combines financial education with local revitalization economics. It focuses on constructing correct financial concepts and risk awareness for students, and understanding local innovation opportunities to achieve balanced development goals.
"We have the responsibility and ability to bring about positive changes to society," said Eric Su, Senior Executive Vice President of KGI Life Insurance. Since 2019, the government has been actively promoting local revitalization policies to mitigate issues such as overpopulation in major cities and imbalanced urban and rural development.
Compared to colleges and universities in metropolitan areas, schools in remote areas require more corporate resources. A high proportion of students reportedly need to work part-time to cover tuition and living expenses. KGI Life Insurance has long been concerned with this social phenomenon and actively promotes the initiative.
The academy invites interdisciplinary professionals from within the company and local revitalization institutions to form a coaching team. Through teaching, sharing personal career experiences, regular group discussions, corporate visits, and end-of-term group proposal competitions, students are inspired to broaden their horizons and cultivate local development potential.
The "New Leaf Academy" responds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goals 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goal). KGI Life Insurance hopes that this project will not only play a leading role in financial education but also establish a sustainable model through inspirational education practices and support for local economic development.
KGI Life Insurance looks forward to more social participation, stimulating different innovative thinking, joining hands with all parties to create a deeper sustainable influence, and creating a happy life for all stakeholders.
