Youth Volunteers Showcased the Beauty of New Taipei City through Short Videos and an Innovative App at the "International Youth Volunteer Development Program Capstone Ceremony"
(中央社訊息服務20231127 13:37:35)On the 19th, the New Taipei City Youth Department held the "International Youth Volunteer Development Program Capstone Ceremony." After completing five thematic training courses, visiting four diplomatic institutes and organizations in Taiwan, and participating in two youth exchange activities, 30 students have been cultivated as the first international youth volunteers by the New Taipei City Youth Department. The event attracted numerous international dignitaries, including Ambassador Donya Lynex Francis of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Kim Sunho, Director of the Institute for Asian Minority Studies, and Pare Tiara Moustapha, Founder of Afrique Asia Alliance. These distinguished guests highly praised the youth volunteers for their achievements.
Ambassador Donya Lynex Francis expressed gratitude to the New Taipei City Youth Department in his speech: "I appreciate the Youth Department for leading youth volunteers to visit the embassy, allowing me to share the culture, history, and beauty of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Today's presentations revealed many places in New Taipei City that I had not yet explored. I look forward to the volunteers continuing to promote more exchanges with their enthusiasm and influence."
Presentation & Short Videos: Showcasing the Beauty of New Taipei City to the World
The presentations by the volunteers at the ceremony demonstrated their deep understanding of New Taipei City and showcased their innovative thinking and language abilities. One group focused on the theme "Explore New Taipei" and designed a travel-specific app called "New Taipei Fun." By scanning QR codes, users can access information about attractions, history, and culture, earning points for real discounts at local businesses. This marketing approach enhances the enjoyment of travel and stimulates the surrounding economic activities.
The short video by the same group, titled "The North Coast Experience Known Only by New Taipei Residents," covered a day-long itinerary from an unknown noodle shop and an old house cafe in the morning to the water recreation spot, "Zhongjiao Bay Beach," and the famous photo spot, "Fuguei Cape Lighthouse." In the evening, visitors could enjoy the sunset at the sea-eroded caves in Shimen. The video provided a comprehensive tour of the North Coast, allowing people to experience the beauty of New Taipei City through the content of the short video.
Student Ting, who attended almost every training activity, stated, "Initially, I enrolled hoping to enhance my future resume, but after this training period, I learned a lot of knowledge that schools don't teach. What I have learned can be applied in international volunteer service and as a foundation for future work!"
High Praise from the Commissioner of the New Taipei City Youth Department
Commissioner Marcia Chiu of the New Taipei City Youth Department highly praised the volunteers' performance. She stated that aside from recognizing the volunteers' individual achievements, the success of their presentations also reflects New Taipei City's achievements in international exchanges. Marcia Chiu added, "Through today's ceremony, these youth are witnesses to personal growth and learning and the moment when New Taipei City showcases its diverse culture on the international stage. The Youth Department will continue implementing diverse cultivation programs to transform New Taipei into a friendly international city."
