FET Was Selected as One of the Companies in the DJSI World Index for Three Consecutive Years

The company has been selected as one of the members of the DJSI World Index for three years in a row, and part of the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for six consecutive years. Among the 24 evaluation items, FET received perfect scores in ten of them, including Materiality, Network Reliability, Policy Influence, Tax Strategy in Economic dimension; Environmental Reporting, Environmental Policy and Management Systems in Environmental dimension; Social Reporting, Human Rights, Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy, Occupational Health and Safety in Social dimension. This demonstrated FET's dedication to promoting corporate sustainability and international recognition.
Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) was co-created by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM in 1999 as an index for corporate sustainability investment. Through Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), enterprises are evaluated in terms of environment, social, and governance (ESG) for operational risks and opportunities. Every year, thousands of companies around the world are being evaluated, and only the top 10% of companies with the highest score in sustainability development can become members of DJSI. DJSI is one of the sustainability assessments with the highest credibility.
FET President, Chee Ching, said, " Being selected as a member of DJSI World Index for three consecutive years is a solid recognition for FET in sustainability development. FET aligns with the UN's SDGs, putting efforts in the environmental, social, and economic sustainable development issues. Through the evaluation, FET annually reviews whether its operation has been connected to SDGs, making sure the company follows the global trend of sustainability. With Big Data, AI, IoT, and cloud, FET implements 5G vertical applications, and actively adopts sustainable development with suppliers, employees, clients, and stakeholders.
For environmental sustainability, FET reviews the risks and opportunities of climate change. Through cloud, Big Data, and IoT, smart city, smart parking, and air quality control can be realized to solve traffic issues and improve air quality. FET also joined GSMA to reduce the impacts of global climate change with other telecom companies. This year, FET, along with other leading companies, joined Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission, initiated by Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. Internally, FET is working to reach its carbon reduction goal through commitment and real actions; Externally, FET is promoting the zero carbon emission initiative.
In terms of social inclusion, FET values talent cultivation and employee care. It follows labor regulations, creating a friendly workplace with zero discrimination and sexual harassment. To enhance team spirit, FET holds online town hall meetings. Through regular, creative, and bilateral communication, President and Executive Management Team are able to communicate with employees instantly, truly understanding the needs of employees, and making improvements. In terms of corporate governance, for seven years in a row, FET has been ranked in the top 5% listed companies in the Corporate Governance Evaluation by Taiwan Stock Exchange. By utilizing its strengths in Big Data, AI, and IoT, FET discovers new business markets with its strategic partners. In 2020, FET took the lead in building the first 5G telemedicine facility in Taitung and further realized the first 5G continuity of medical care services for diabetes in New Taipei City, using internet to enhance the convenience of medical treatment for patients in remote areas. In addition, FET, together with Delta and Microsoft, has built the first 5G smart factory in Taiwan. FET also completed the first 5G spectrum/network sharing project with Asia Pacific Telecom (APT). To strengthen the connection with customers, FET built ‘Mobile Circle’ with other brands and products. This not only created a winning situation for the three parties, but it also developed diverse values of sustainability. Moreover, FET also invested in smart healthcare. It created the first 5G telemedicine service in Taitung, and provided 5G continuing medical care for diabetes in New Taipei City. These efforts tremendously improved the convenience for patients in remote regions. Looking ahead, FET will continue to utilize its core competence to realize sustainability goals, make greater impacts as a telecom company, and fulfill corporate sustainability responsibilities.
